Most recently, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Mad Men star Julia Ormond was added to the spin-off cast as Elizabeth, described by AMC as a “charismatic leader of a large, sophisticated and formidable force.” So far, we know little about this force, other than they seem to have three linked rings as their insignia, as worn by the character in the promo—the same rings that have appeared on the mysterious helicopters in The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead.

What will happen in The Walking Dead: World Beyond?
According to Variety, the plot of World Beyond “centers on the first generation raised in the zombie apocalypse. Some will become heroes, some will become villains, but in the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.”
At New York Comic-Con, The Walking Dead boss Scott Gimple said: “They’ve grown up in the apocalypse. They’re aware of walkers. They haven’t interacted with them. They’ve been [living] beyond walls. That makes any journey they need to make incredibly dangerous. They are affected in different ways by what happened.
“They don’t remember much of a world without walkers. This is the normal world for them, but they’ve been apart from it. They’ve been in safety. There’s a quest aspect to this show. They’re going somewhere. They have to leave this place of safety to put themselves in a position where they have to fight for their survival and what they believe in. It’s a different kind of story in the world of The Walking Dead, and it introduces a new world.”
What happened in The Walking Dead: World Beyond trailer?
The voiceover for the promo says: “Once upon a time, the end of the world was our beginning,” while we see some of the cast members tackling walkers. We then get another of the helicopters with the ring insignia on it, out of which steps Elizabeth, who mans a crack team of walker assassins.
“We are the last light of the world,” we hear her say, “we are the last hope.”
