Who is Princess in The Walking Dead Comics?

In The Walking Dead comic series, Princess is a fun-loving drifter encountered by Michonne, Eugene, Yumiko, Magna and Siddiq on Eugene’s quest to meet Stephanie for the first time. They find her in Pittsburgh, and she admits it’s been a long time since she’s spoken with actual people. With this in mind, Princess has a pretty awkward sense of humor. She jokingly announces the group’s arrival when they first visit her home, which Michonne does not appreciate at all. She also elected the nickname Princess because Queen made her sound too old.

Despite her cheery exterior, however, the Princess comic book character has a dark past involving physical abuse from her stepbrother and stepfather. Prior to the apocalypse, the pair would tie her up in a closet for hours while they took turns beating her. In the present, she uses comedy to keep those negative emotions at bay.

During her tenure in the comics, Princess remains a friendly face for all our favorite heroes. She shows a special fondness for Yumiko and Magna’s lesbian relationship, but she’s not one herself. In fact, she eventually starts a romantic relationship with another character named Mercer. Mercer is the leader of the Commonwealth army, which will presumably loom large at a later point in the series. She stays alive through the duration of the comics and is not a major player in any significant death sequences.

Who plays Princess in The Walking Dead TV series?

On TV, Princess is played by Paola Lázaro. She is perhaps best known for her role as Gutierrez on seven episodes of the canceled Lethal Weapon TV series formerly on FOX. While she’s had a few minor appearances in other places, Lázaro will be a fresh face for most viewers. Like many of The Walking Dead’s key cast members, this role could very well be the biggest of her career to date. That’s all we know about Princess and the woman who plays her.

The Walking Dead Season 10 continues March 29 on AMC.
